Before booking a horse riding tour, check carefully your equestrian ability level.
Riding a horse in Mongolia can be challenging, because of the horses, the long canters and the rough terrain in very remote regions.
You are fit and confident at all paces.
You are used to riding outdoors for many years.
You have to be fit and have had a few lessons before departure.
You should be able to trot.
Never sat on a saddle!
At the beginning and end of the season, the riding pace is slower to respect the natural rhythm of Mongolian horses, which live freely on the steppe all year round.
At the end of winter (May and early June), the horses are weakened by the harsh Mongolian climate and need to be spared.
Similarly, at the end of the season (mid-August to late September), the pace is slower to allow the horses to gain weight before the onset of winter.
